A Virtual Assistant (typically abbreviated to VA, also called a virtual office assistant) is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from their own home office.

Virtual Assistants come from a variety of business backgrounds, but most have several years experience earned in the "real" (non-virtual) business world.

This program is designed for individuals who wish to set up their own business in Australia, and have a skill base that includes experience in any one or more of the following areas:

    Ingrid Bayer - Founder & CEO

    Ingrid first started as a VA in 2008, and has gone on to forge a successful career in the Australian VA industry. In 2016, Ingrid launched her book “Discover the Authentic VA Within – A Journey from EA to VA” which was the foundation for the VA Institute’s Signature VA Startup Program.

    Ingrid now devotes her time to working strategically with the Australian VA Industry and its stakeholders, and specialising in working with EAs, PAs and admin professionals from around Australia, and around the world, in making the transition to becoming a successful VA.

     

    Melissa Patterson - WA Regional Manager & National Operations Manager

    Melissa comes to VA Institute with a strong background in education (primary, tertiary and adult education), sales, coaching and training. Melissa began her foray into the freelancing and VA world in 2012 managing social media for her family’s small business.

    In late 2018, Melissa began set up to formalize her own VA business, completing the VA Institute’s one-on-one online course. Melissa’s business, Blink by Miss Melly, has grown from strength to strength.

    Over the course of 2019, Melissa has embraced social media management for VA Institute, now taking on the National Operations Manager role. With Melissa’s background in coaching and training, together with her passion for excellence in the VA Industry, Melissa’s role is now focused on providing online and face-to-face training, and managing operations for VA Institute.

     

    Tenielle Stevenson - VA Startup Trainer and Mentor

    Tenielle is our newest team member and lives in the beautiful Illawarra area of NSW together with her partner, Derek and their puppy dog.

    Tenielle complements the VA Institute team with her extensive background in executive business support, project management, report preparation, contract reviews, tender coordination, workplace training, document control, WHS, and quality management. She is an exceptional networker, and a valuable resource to all who have the pleasure of working with her.As a busy VA, Tenielle's goal is to create virtual business solutions for today’s workplaces which enable her clients to focus on growing their business.

    Joining our team as a VA Startup Trainer and Mentor, Tenielle melds those skills together to deliver training that is based on real life experience to deliver an outstanding service to VA Institute students and graduates.

In fact, with the growth and affordability of technology in recent years, along with the exponential growth in the number of solo-preneurs, has come an ever increasing demand for skilled virtual support staff.

    Assessment and study requirements

    The requirements for this self-paced course are good time management, organisation, along with a skill base that includes experience in any one or more of the following areas:

    Cancellations & Refunds

    All cancellations are subject to both the InspiringED.com Terms & Conditions and those of the institution delivering your course.

    • A $250 InspiringED.com administration fee will apply for all cancellations requested after 48 hours of your enrollment.

    VA Institute terms and conditions:

    • Once a Participant has commenced the Program, no withdrawal is available if the Participant elects not to complete the program.
    • A refund will only be applied if a Participant is able to provide evidence of ‘Exceptional Circumstances’ in which they would be unable to complete the Online VA Startup Essentials or VA Startup Advanced Program.
    • Participants who have been granted a refund due to Exceptional Circumstances will receive a refund of the full purchase amount, less a $200 administration processing fee within 15 working days from receipt of the relevant documentation supporting their claim for withdrawal under ‘Exceptional Circumstances’.
    • Refunds agreed by VA Institute will only be paid to the person or body (on behalf of the Participant) from whom the original payment was received.
